Planet My Baby Died
After the loss of my daughter, a co-worker and dear friend sent me the book Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugarby Cheryl Strayed. In this book she responds to a writer who shared about feeling stuck in her grief after a miscarriage. In speaking about people who are waiting for the writer to move on from the loss, Strayed states “They are not the people who will be helpful to you when it comes to healing the pain of your daughter’s death. They live on Planet Earth. You live on Planet My Baby Died. It seems to me that you feel like you’re all alone there. You aren’t… Find your tribe.” This validated my experience to it’s core. I have felt alone and even the people who love me and try to support me don’t and can’t get it, because I am on planet my baby died and they are on planet earth. Knowing this has helped me seek my tribe, explain my experience to others, and write this blog to normalize being on different planets
